Abstract
- In this research, it was aimed to determine the cognitive structures of gifted students about climate change. In the research, the survey, the quantitative research design, was used. The sample of the research consisted of 84 gifted students studying at a Science and Art Center in the Eastern Anatolia Region during the 2018-2019 academic years. In the research, Word Association Test was used as a data collection tool. In this research, it was seen that gifted students repeated the words about climate change, climate change, air warming and extinction of living things. When the students' sentences for the concept of climate change were examined, it was found that the sentences were mostly in the category of "non-scientific and superficial knowledge and the number of sentences containing misconceptions was quite high. From this point of view, it can be said that the knowledge level of the gifted students about climate change is insufficient and has misconceptions.
