This article titled “Amīr al-San‘ānī and his Wiews on Usūl al-Hadīth” is prepared to introduce Yamanī savant Muhammad ibn Ismāīl Amīr al-San‘ānī, and to identify and to analyze his views on hadīth. Muhammad ibn Ismāīl Amīr al-San‘ānī, who lived between 1099/1688-1182/1796, wrote about 200 books and mainly known as the author of Subul alSalām. al-San‘ānī’s views on ‘Usūl al-Hadīth’ received attention. This study contains alSan‘ānī views on the traits of hadīth narrators, his definition of the sahābah, his critique on the hadīth narrators, and his views on other books on the narration, and his criticisms to earlier scholars.
