Abstract

The process of economic development provides externalities in different ways, depending on the productive composition of each territory; in this context, regional differences can result in greater or lesser economic growth. The present article investigated the performance of the Centro-Oeste region between 2002-2015 and compared it with the national average using quantitative analysis. The indicators used for the analysis were GDP, Gini, Exports, Imports, and Degree of Commercial Openness (GAC, in the Portuguese acronym). The results showed that, in the Gini, the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, MS, were above the national average, and Goiás, GO, below. The variable GDP followed the national average, while exports were above average, and, in imports, only MS was higher. The GAC of GO and MS was above the national average, and the one from MT, below. According to the literature, the present research confirms that the Centro-Oeste continues above the national average. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
