Abstract
- In mass production, manufacturing tolerances are unavoidably generated between the core and permanent magnet. Furthermore, it is necessary to improve the tolerance effect by changing the shape of the motor because the back electromotive force (EMF) and cogging torque are influenced by manufacturing tolerances. In this study, Taguchi robust design is applied to an air blower motor that is used to circulate the air in the fuel cell stack of an electric vehicle. As the widely used Taguchi method could not achieve a multi‐response, a multi‐response signal‐to‐noise ratio based on the Taguchi robust design is employed to consider the back EMF and cogging torque. Finally, an optimum shape is determined for selecting the appropriate combination of control factors in the robust design, and the average and standard deviation of the back EMF and the cogging torque are improved.
