AVALIAÇÃO DAS ATIVIDADES INSTRUMENTAIS DE VIDA DIÁRIA DOS IDOSOS EM INQUÉRITO DOMICILIAR.

The present study aimed to evaluate the ability to perform instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) in the elderly. This research is part of the project called "Population-based health survey in municipalities of Piauí", developed through a partnership between the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) with the University of São Paulo (USP). This is a cross-sectional, descriptive and quantitative-approach study. The data collected were entered and analyzed through the STATISTICAL PROGRAM IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 20.0. In this study, it was possible to observe the influence of the variables gender, age, marital status, schooling, current occupation, income and physical activity that directly relate to the need for assistance in performing (IADL). Thus, obtaining knowledge about the factors associated with maintaining the functional capacity of the elderly is essential to support public policies that favor the integral health of this population and the care offered to it, stimulating a aging and detecting early conditions that can generate disabilities.
