CARACTERÍSTICAS RELACIONADA A MORTALIDADE DE PACIENTES IDOSOS HOSPITALIZADOS DE 1996 A 2016 NO MATO GROSSO DO SUL.

With the growth of the elderly population and the aspects inherent therein, it is necessary to know the profile of mortality in the elderly. Objective: To describe the mortality profile of elderly hospitalized patients from 1996 to 2016 in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Methodology: DATASUS data were collected on reported deaths and analyzed using BioEstat Software version 5.3. Results: The main cause of death in the elderly was diseases of the circulatory system (36.6%). Significant differences were observed regarding race (p <0.0001), schooling (p = 0.0004), marital status (p = 0.0026) and relative to the winter period when compared to summer (p < 0,05). Conclusion: The results of the present study indicate the main characteristics of the deaths in the elderly in MS, demonstrating the importance of public policies and assisting in the management of hospital services.
