- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is increasingly reported as a potential tool for neuroprognostication after cardiac arrest. Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) is an MRI sequence that visualizes the diffusion of water molecules and is sensitive to the detection of cytotoxic edema, which reduces diffusivity.
