Abstract

In this work, a comparative analysis of the Mg-Mn-Ce system magnesium alloy grain structure is presented for two states: as-received condition and after processing by groove pressing method. It was found that three cycles of groove pressing at sheet-shaped samples lead to the formation of the grain structure with equiaxial shaped grains and uni-modal distribution. In this case, the grain diameter after processing is refined 3 times. Due to this, a microstructure with a 2 µm average grain size is formed in the sample. A combination of structural and texture changes leads to improved mechanical properties. This allows getting semi-finished products with improved functional properties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
