Abstract
- The article focuses on a study which identified bacteriophages, bacterial species and fecal metabolites showing notable differences in abundance between major depressive disorder patients and healthy individuals. Gut bacteria and bacteriophage differences between MDD and HC subjects are described. Direct roles of the gut microbiome in modulating fecal amino acid metabolism by mapping the differential enzyme commission numbers to disturbed amino acid metabolism is explored.
