Abstract

This article addresses the phenomenon of "celebrification" in the construction of the digital identity of Ecuadorian television journalists on digital platforms, specifically on Instagram. From the main contributions of celebrity studies and political marketing, three variables have been identified that allow the recognition and understanding of celebrification. These features are used to perform an analysis of the contents of the accounts of six journalists during three months of the year 2019. The results show the characteristics of the "celebraficated" content as part of the digital identity of the journalists analyzed and their relationship with the classic paradigms of journalism.
