Abstract
- This article reports that although no aircraft using Reagan Washington National Airport were hijacked on September 11, 2001, the events of that day prompted U.S. security officials to close the airport indefinitely to business jets and turboprops. National Air Transportation Association President James K. Coyne asserts that what's happening regarding the security shutdown of business and general aviation at Reagan is alien to aviators who have had a good working relationship with U.S. government regulators in the past. While the industry would like Reagan Airport to reopen to all general aviation pilots, the majority of operators affected by the shutdown are in business aviation.
