Abstract

The method of constructing a 2D simulation model based on the real microstructure is developed to simulate the microstructural evolution of materials. Microstructure photographs of two typical metallic materials, 40Cr and TC4, are analyzed by scanning electron microscopy-electron backscattering diffraction. Then, the photographs are converted into digital images and the grain topology information in the photographs is reserved. Based on this information, the true microstructure of materials is rebuilt with the finite element software ABAQUS using the PYTHON rogramming language. The 2D model the true microstructure will be of importance for improving the accuracy of elastoplastic finite element simulation for polycrystals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
