Abstract

Objective: To explore the mental health status and related factors among the medical personnel during the COVID-19 epidemic. Methods: In total, 320 frontline medical personnel (FMP), 538 non-frontline medical personnel (nFMP) and 917 public residents (PR) were assessed with the 20 -item Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20, ≥ 7 as positive), 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7, ≥ 6 as positive), 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9, ≥ 5 as positive), and degree of subjective perception of the impacts on lives. Results: The positive screening rates of SRQ-20, GAD-7 and PHQ-9 among the medical personnel were 1.11%, 18. 1 %, and 19. 2%, respectively. There was no significant difference between nFMP and FMP on the positive screening rates of SRQ-20, GAD-7 and PHQ-9 ( Ps > 0. 05) . The positive screening rates of SRQ-20, GAD-7 and PHQ-9 were lower in nMPF than in PR ( Ps <0. 05) . Logistic regression analyses revealed that the scores of impacts on daily lives were positively associated with the positive screening rates of SRQ-20, GAD-7 and PHQ-9 (OR = 3. 73, 4. 22, 4. 05, Ps < 0. 001) . Conclusion: It suggests that there is no significant difference in prevalence of mental health problems during the COVID-19 epidemic between frontline and non-frontline medical personnel. The subjective perception of the impacts on lives may be a risk factor for mental health problem among the medical personnel. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
