Abstract

Born: June 17, 1979 Occupation: Writer Canadian novelist and poet won the Scotiabank Giller Prize, one of Canada's highest literary honors, for his debut novel, Reproduction, in 2019. Williams, who was born in Trinidad and raised outside of Toronto, made his literary debut with a poetry collection titled You Know Who You Are in 2010. After thumbing through the books on his mother's shelf, Williams was inspired to buy Margaret Atwood's 1964 poetry collection The Circle Game.
