Abstract

Until now little was known about the so-called follas reales , theatrical performances (apparently operatic) whose existence was reported in Spanish cities such as Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia during the eighteenth century. Of these, however, only one text was known: that of a folla real composed by Francisco Corradini for the anniversary of Queen Isabella Farnese in 1728. The characteristics of this folla real did not coincide with those that appeared in sources and dictionaries of the period, in which variety was the main characteristic. In this paper I reconstruct an unknown folla real , which was staged for the princes of Asturias in the Casa de Vacas in the Sitio Real de Aranjuez in 1785. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
