Abstract

In the present study, undoped strontium aluminate (Sr3Al2O6) nanoparticles were prepared using sol-gel method. The aim of the work is to investigate the role of strontium aluminate as a phosphor host material. Structural and linear optical properties of undoped strontium aluminate were investigated using X-ray diffraction, diffuse reflectance and photoluminescence measurements. The XRD pattern revealed that the sample is a single phase cubic structure with crystallite size 27nm. It is found that the nanocrystalline Sr3Al2O6 possesses some luminescence property on exciting with 280nm in blue region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
