Abstract
- Caesarean section is one of the most common abdominal surgeries that do not benefit from a standard technique. The short-term and long-term consequences of the intervention depend on the technique used at each stage of the procedure, the choice of method being essentially influenced by the knowledge of anatomical landmarks and scientific evidence. The objective of our review is to pro vide updated evidence-based guidance for surgical decisions during caesarean delivery. We focused on the requirements of the uterine closure at the time of caesarean section, with emphasis on the woman’s reproductive desires. The conventional double-layer and single-layer suturing are discussed in this paper, with regard to full thickness healing of the cut margins. The quality of the cut margins of the uterus due to the process of labor on a prior scared uterus may lead to the poor healing of the uterine wall and results in thinned out scars.
