The Brazilian agrarian question is complex and heterogeneous, which allows for the awakening of different interpretations - paradigms, theories, concepts, ideologies and even development policies. Throughout this presentation, the agrarian question is interpreted as a structural contradiction of the capitalist mode of production that expropriates and subordinates peasants. In order to break with the relationships of subjection to capital, peasants, especially those organized in socio-territorial movements, are building autonomous and emancipatory socio-territorial practices. Via Campesina's agroecology and food sovereignty proposal are some examples. However, these practices and proposals are directly related to the struggle for land and land reform.
