Abstract

Child mortality is an indicator that estimates the rate of the deaths of children under one year of age, occurring at a certain time and place. The article aims at identifying the epidemiological profile of child mortality in the Region of the Middle Valley of Itajaí (RMVI) in the period between 2014 and July 2019. The study is quantitative research of exploratory and descriptive character, in which public access data available in the Mortality Information System (SIM) and the Live Birth Information System (SINASC) were researched. The results were applied to charts and graphs and analyzed with a bibliographic basis. Knowing epidemiological profiles allows health professionals and managers to identify the most vulnerable part of the population and implement preventive and health protection measures aiming to reduce child mortality.
