Abstract

Even over the years, the radio is a mass media tool that protects the nostalgic side and continues its influence on the listener. University radios have an important mission to train human resources which are important for radios. University radios the number of which are getting increased along with opening of communication faculties, are examined in this study. The main aim of the study is to examine how management functions are applied in university radios in Turkey and determine their managerial process. Interview questions were asked to administrative staff of the radios in the sample and the answers were analyzed descriptively. As a result, it was found that there were target group and goal commons unity in the administration of university radios. Consequently; similarities were identified in many dimensions ranging from broadcast planning, to authority responsibility structures, from financial operation to human resource development processes. In addition, due to the nature of the job and employee profile which consist of students, it was revealed that administrative functions were far from formal and bureaucratic process.
