Abstract
- The article discusses how the rural community of Puhan in China addressed its debt problem through the establishment of a mutual aid credit system. Topics explored include the operations of the Agricultural Bank of China and rural credit cooperatives following the implementation of the Chinese financial reform in the 1990s, the loans attributed to peasant households recorded by the end of 2015, and the involvement of Puhan in rural sustainability and cultural regeneration projects.
