Abstract

This paper analyzes the relationship between the countryside and the city, based on a study carried out at the popular Açaí Rampa Fair, Santa Inês Quarter, in Macapá-AP. The place of study is a space that interconnects two distinct and intrinsic realities. The surveys were carried out through qualitative interviews, photographic records, theoretical discussions that supported the analysis of the problem, there is a daily communication and exchange relationship between the areas near the city, especially the Pará Islands, which in turn, streamlines the commercialization of products and merchandise, thus indicating its importance in the local supply flows. The results of the research show an intense incorporation of habits and customs, assimilated both by the extractivist/riverine peasants who market their merchandise at the fair of the port/edge embedded by urban modernity and by the population of the city, which, through the fair, reproduces the relationship traditional and direct contact with the field from the acquisition of in natura products, such as fish, açai and other products, thus preserving common commercial practices in past times.
