Interpretation of Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring in the Clinical Context.

Use of intrapartum fetal heart rate (FHR) monitoring has had limited success in preventing hypoxic injury to neonates. One of the most common limitations of FHR interpretation is the failure to consider chronic and acute clinical factors that may increase the risk of evolving acidemia.
