Abstract
- The article compares Ozzie Freedman, a character in Philip Roth's book "The Conversion of the Jews," to Martin Luther, who initiated the Protestant Reformation. Topics covered include Ozzie's view regarding God's role in the Virgin Birth, and the ways that Ozzie questioned traditional Judaism as embodied in Rabbi Binder, just as Luther spoke out against Roman Catholicism and the papacy.
