Abstract

The objective of this study was to make a diagnosis of the floristic composition of a transitional area, comparing the data with floristic studies carried out in areas of ecological stress in the septentrional part of the state of Piauí. This research becomes relevant because it is developed in an ecotonal area of little botanical knowledge. Field trips were conducted at Mucambo Velho Farm, located in the municipality of Buriti dos Lopes, Piauí, where botanical material was collected over a year from July 2015 to 2016. The collected botanical material is incorporated into the collection. from the TEPB (UFPI) and UFP (UFPE) herbariums. Floristic similarity comparisons were made with surveys developed in areas of ecological stress in the northern region of Piauí present in the FLORACENE database. Ninety-eight species were sampled, distributed in 85 genera and 35 families. Fabaceae and Bignoniaceae stood out in number of species, probably due to the predominance of these families in cerrado and caatinga areas, having a heterogeneous flora. The Cerrado areas surveyed have a peculiar flora, characterized as ecological tension, with influence of Caatinga and the Amazon Forest. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
