Abstract
- This article says that school libraries in the United States need to show stakeholders how library resources relate to the goals put forth in the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). Doing this could help bring needed funds into the library for updating the collection. One of the goals of NCLB is to have all students proficient in reading and mathematics by 2013-2014. Studies show that quality school library programs, those that have adequate funding and resources and are staffed by a professional, can increase students' standardized test scores by 10-18 percent. Studies also show the key role that school librarians play in student achievement.
