Abstract
- Leaders have to influence their environment by revealing their talents and capacities to be able to accept themselves in organizations. The severity of the effects of leadership is related to environmental factors and the leadership styles they apply. Authentic leaders; those who know who they are, who are consistent with their value judgments and moral attitudes, are known and respected for their honesty, self-confident, optimistic and hopeful. The research was conducted on 295 academic and administrative staff working in Bingöl University and the authentic leadership was examined according to demographic characteristics. Data were collected by questionnaire, reliability and validity analyzes of study scales were performed and study hypotheses were examined with T-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that authentic leadership showed significant differences with respect to demographic variables such as gender, marital status, status, education level, age, working period and total working experience. As a result of the research, the key factor contributing to the development of authentic leadership is the self-awareness dimension. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
