Abstract

Nowadays, the alternative energies have reached a great worldwide importance in the different applications related to the development of the energy sector, among which the solar energy, wind energy, hydraulic energy, geothermal energy and seawater energy can be named. A new technology that uses the kinetic energy from the water currents in natural and/or artificial channels and even from sea currents are the so-called hydrokinetic turbines. In this study, a review of the state-of-the-art referring to several numerical methods that can be useful when implemented to design, analyze, and optimize energy generation systems from hydrokinetic turbines is presented.
