Abstract

This article presents the author's views on the extent of freedom in the United States is today a freer nation, from the stand point of the individual non-conformist, than ever before in its history. The author discussed the American perennial, the reign of terror, concluding that the situation today, when compared with reigns of terror that have on a local basis bloodied up the past, augurs well for the life-expectancy of the non-conformist. Many examples of this sort can be found on the American scene, harmonica players are denied a hall because of alleged subversive connections, boxers are required to take loyalty oaths before putting on gloves, unemployed workers are refused compensation because of ties with Communist unions.
