Abstract

This article discusses radiation hybrid and comparative mapping of 83 canine brain expressed sequence tags (ESTs). The canine brain ESTs were compared with sequences in the NCBI database with BLAST to find matches to putative orthologous human genes. The human gene locus with the most significant match to each canine ESTs is provided in the article. Three of the eight unlinked canine ESTs were putative orthologues of human X chromosome genes. Amplicons for the six ESTs for which the canine assignment was to an unexpected chromosome were sequenced to confirm their identity.
