Abstract

Introduction: The researchs that analyze the sensory profile in girls and boys with Autism Spectrum Disorder is Lower, the lack evidence, therefore professionals do not extend their intervention in this population. For that reason the researchers would identify the sensory profile in children with ASD between the ages of 3 and 12 years old. Methods and Materials: A cross sectional study conducted among 38 children diagnosed with ASD residing at the rehabilitation center in Barranquilla and Valledupar Colombia; to select a subgroup population a nonprobable sample is selected in order to facilitate the study. The short Sensory Profile II by Winnie Dinn was the instrument used during the evaluation process. Results: In this investigation, the majority of the population with ASD evaluated was of male gender. The population sample used for our investigation presented alterations in sensory modulation patterns evaluated. Conclusion: children with ASD have a variety of sensory alteration which require an understanding and intervention by the professionals and those in direct contact to this population.
