Abstract
- We model emissions from the Carroll-Yoshino (v′ = 0, v″ = 0) band of molecular nitrogen N2, i.e. due to nonthermal gas discharges in low pressure air and N2. In particular, we calculate the rate of excitation of thermally equilibriated N2 at room temperature (i.e. 300 K) to various rotational levels J′ of. Subsequently, we calculate the intensity of 47 emission lines resulting from radiative transitions from the aforementioned rotational levels. It is assumed that predissociation is the only nonradiative channel for the decay of excited levels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
