Abstract
- Structures were established for the products of the reactions of 2,2-di(4-nitrophenyl)-1-chloroethene and 2,2-di(4-nitrophenyl)-1,1-dichloroethene with sodium nitrite and the ratio of these products was found using chemical balance, high-performance liquid chromatography, and IR spectroscopy data. The reaction of 2,2-di-(4-dinitrophenyl)-1-chloroethene with nitrite ion in dimethylformamide gives 50% 4,4'-dinitrobenzophenone, 30% 4,4'-dinitrobenzophenone oxime, and 20% 4,4'-dinitrobenzanilide. The products of the reaction of 2,2-di(4-nitrophenyl)-1,1-dichloroethene with NaNO2 in DMF gives 95–97% 4,4'-dinitrobenzophenone and 2.5–3.0% 4,4'-dinitrobenzophenone oxime. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
