Abstract

In the present study, a questionnaire, consists of 14 questions related to food consumption awareness was conducted on randomly selected 280 individuals living in the city center of Karaman. It was found that the relationship between the answers to the question about whether brand factor was paid attention when purchasing food products and professional status of the individuals participating in the research were significant (P=0.000). What the meaning of the bombing (bloating) observed in foods was asked and the relationship between the answers and educational level was found to be important (P=0.021). As the education level increases, the accuracy of the answers increases. However, most of the participants could not give correct answers to the questions about meat and milk. More surveys on meat and dairy products should be conducted and according to the results, various trainings should be organized and the awareness of Karaman people should be increased.
