Abstract

The article focuses on African American freedom struggle and literature written about the Civil Rights Movement. It mentions Martin Luther King, Jr., offered the first scholarly treatments on the subject and journalist Louis E. Lomax provided an early explanation of the social upheaval in his book "The Negro Revolt." It also mentions Numan V. Bartley's book "The Rise of Massive Resistance" offered the first historical assessment of the impact of the Brown v. Board of Education decision.
