Abstract
- The article focuses on the decision of pig farmers in the U.S. in killing pigs that have grown to large to be slaughtered commercially and dispose their carcasses without processing them into food after meatpacking plants were ordered to close amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Topics covered include the increase in the number of pigs but not used for food despite people lining up at food banks and the steps that the national government have taken to address the problem.
