Abstract

It is reported the synthesis of CaCO3 particle by a simple and rapid procedure with different drying methods. FTIR, XRD, SEM, and PSA techniques have been used to characterize the precipitated products. Precursor for the synthesis is natrium carbonate and calcium nitrate tetrahydrate in deionized water. Reactions were conducted at a temperature of 27° C for reaction times at 60 minutes and stirring speed at 800 rpm. CaCO3 synthesized with drying using desiccator obtained a spherical and porous surface CaCO3 particle and an average diameter size of 1589.4 nm. CaCO3 synthesized with drying using freeze-drying obtained an irregular shape and average diameter size of 2669.7 nm. Different drying methods can produce different morphology dan sizes of CaCO3 on micro-scale. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
