Abstract

Cadmium sulfide (CdS) films are deposited on indium doped tin oxide (ITO) coated glass substrates by chemical bath deposition (CBD) technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV–Vis spectrometry, scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and photoluminescence (PL) analyses were used to study the structural, morphological and optical properties of CBD CdS films. XRD patterns confirmed the cubic crystalline structure of the deposited films. The SEM study showed that the films are homogeneous, crack-free, and smooth. The surface roughness values of the CBD CdS films deposited for 30 min, 60 min, and 90 min are found to be 32.17 nm, 26.58 nm, and 24.32 nm, respectively. Band gap values of the CBD CdS films are found to be in the range of 2.25eV-2.35eV. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
