Abstract

Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) can support improved efficiency when applied in industrial control processes in PNG. Technological advances in engineering and computing have resulted in PLCs witnessing diverse applications such as in water treatment processes, mining operations, electrical power generation systems and primary industry milling facilities with improved efficiencies and better economic outcomes. Against the backdrop of diverse computer programming languages, learning and harnessing, programming PLCs can be a fun-filled and profitable skill in PNG. This paper discusses the status quo vis-à-vis PLCs and pedagogical possibilities among academic institutions in PNG. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
