Abstract

Ileal jejunum atraumatic perforation is defined as any intestinal perforation caused by diseases without any trauma. A prevalence study, of atraumatic jejunum ileal perforations, were performed in patients admitted to Antonio Pedro University Hospital - UFF, from January 1982 to December 2011. Fifty two patients, aged 8 to 80, similar gender, were studied. Nine diseases were found, including one, that histopathological was unable to show a cause of perforation. Perforations are surprising events with high morbidity and mortality and should be understood as a complication of many diseases that involve small intestine. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
