Abstract

Necmeddin Sefercioğlu graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Language, History, and Geography Department of Librarianship in 1960. He became an assistant at the same Department in 1962. His area of specialization was Cataloging and Classification. He became Associate Professor (Doçent) in 1982, and Full Professor in 1990. He worked at the National Library between 1959-1962. He went to the U.S. in 1965 with a fund provided by the Ford Foundation to visit libraries for a year. While he was teaching at the Department of Librarianship, he also gave courses at the Department of Journalism at the Ankara University. Due to the unavailability of position for a professorship at Ankara University, he moved to the Gazi University in 1986, where he worked until 1998. Dr. Sefercioğlu was a prolific writer who wrote many articles on librarianship and educational and cultural fields. He died on April 4, 2019. God bless his soul. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
