Abstract

The article deals with the challenges encountered by small business owners in applying for loans under a federal emergency relief program launched by the U.S. government to help small businesses retain workers or rehire those that were laid off amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Topics covered include number of loans that banks had already processed by nine in the morning on April 3, 2020 and factors contributing to lack of preparedness among banks for an efficient response to borrowers.
