Abstract

This paper reports on the investigation of flow structure and turbulent mixing in model Turbomeca swirl burner at atmospheric pressure with different Reynolds numbers by optical diagnostics (planar laser-induced fluorescence) and numerical simulation (large eddy simulation). The numerical simulation shows the good agreement with the experimental results. The operating modes of the combustion chamber presented in the work show unsatisfactory mixing of air with fuel in the initial region of the flow. In order to provide good mixing air and fuel at the atmospheric pressure in initial region of the flow after nozzle it is necessary supply fuel into the premixer through small channels.
