Abstract

• A one-pot protocol for the preparation of (E)-3-benzylideneflavanones. • Moderate to good yields of the products. • Experimentally simple procedure working under air. • Simple starting materials. An efficient and practical PPA/H 2 SO 4 promoted synthesis of (E)-3-benzylideneflavanones from 2-hydroxyacetophenones and aromatic aldehydes was developed.
