Abstract
- The article presents an analysis of telegraphy and diction in Henry James' "In the Cage," a novella about language. Topics discussed include the appearance of the language of measurement in the introduction to the telegraphist and her work, the language describing the telegraphist's fiancée, Mr. Mudge, and symbolism of the telegram.
