Abstract

The article discusses a study which examined prognostic factors for 30-day mortality from admission to the medical intensive care unit (ICU) in patients diagnosed with solid cancer tumors (SCTs). Topics discussed include the number of organ failures as a prognostic factor for 30-day mortality, the non-curative setting as a prognostic factor, and ethical practices related to shared medical decision making and limitation of life-sustaining therapy.
