Abstract

This research carries out a prosopographic and social network analysis on the processes of Syrian-Lebanese emigration to Costa Rica at the turn of the nineteenth century, the mechanisms of social insertion used by this migrant group, and relations between Syrian-Lebanese and Masonic sociability networks during the first half of the twentieth century. It is concluded that the Syrian-Lebanese immigrants actively participated in a process of readjustment of the social relations of the State and contributed to forge new cultural representations of nationhood in the country.
