Abstract

Computer-based simulation has been playing an indispensable role in the engineering fields, such as materials, thermal fluids, energy systems, mechanics, and aerodynamics. Supported by the continuously grown high-performance computing resources, simulation nowadays leverages high-order accuracy numerical methods, accurate models, and mesh technologies. In "A Parallel Algorithm for Chimera Grid with Implicit Hole Cutting Method", Xiaodong Hu et al. introduce the concept of a Cartesian Auxiliary Grid to parallelize and enhance the efficiency of the implicit hole cutting method in Chimera computational fluid dynamics (CFD) calculations.
