Abstract
- Aim: Analyze the effect of group kinesiotherapy for life quality, accession and withdraw of the program, functional ability, balance and gait of sedentary elderly women. Methodology: Experimental study, sample of elderly over the age of 60 years which we submitted to a kinesiotherapy protocol and randomized them in three groups (N=30), group kinesiotherapy (GK), individual kinesiotherapy (IK), and control (C) for twelve weeks. We assessed the quality of life through a SF-36 survey, and the variables of balance and gait through Tinetti test. Using descriptive statistical procedures and the Wilcoxon test to evaluate the effect intra group and the Kruskal-wallis test for analyzing the variance between groups, assuming the level of significance of p<0.05. Results: Permanence index: CG:n=10; GI:n=10;C:n=10; Tinetti test: CG group: total score 9.26 -- 13.1; Group GI 11.37 -- 14.5. There was not amelioration in C. SF-36 group: average scores: (CG) Pain: 33.2 -- 70.7; Emotional aspects 33.3 -- 66.6; (GI) Functional capacity: 64 -- 85.5; Emotional aspects: 77.7 -- 88; Functional limitation: 72.5 -- 100. There was no statistically significant changes in C group. Conclusion: We found no expressive differences related to the withdraw index between the dynamics in group and individual dynamics in the kinesiotherapy program. However, the experimental groups presented meaningful differences with the tests, before and after interventions, for the improvement of the emotional aspects, improvement of physical impairments, pain reduction, improvement in balance and gait, displaying then the efficacy and the relevance of this activity.
