Studies the macronucleus of Paramecium caudata by researchers from Russia and Germany. Performance of infection experiments incubating P. caudata with non-infectious free-living bacteria or weakly infectious intracellular bacteria; Access of the non-infectious free-living bacteria into the nuclei when added to Paramecium together with Holospora obtusa; Evidence that H. obtusa may facilitate entry of other non-infectious bacteria into the nuclei of Paramecium.
